Google’s first foldable Google Pixel Fold mobile going to launch on May 2023 Some of these mobile specs are trending on the internet.
Google is reportedly planning to incorporate a foldable screen in their upcoming Pixel phone. This would be a significant step for the Pixel line as it would be the first time Google has experimented with foldable technology.
Google has recently been focusing on hardware and the introduction of a foldable screen in their phone would certainly make a bold statement in the tech market. However, it is important to note that this information is based on rumors and has not yet been officially confirmed by the company.
It is no surprise that Google is not alone in its foray into foldable phone technology. Apple is reportedly working on their own foldable phone but the release date is speculated to be as far out as 2025. Meanwhile, Samsung has already launched the fourth generation of their foldable phones,
the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, during their Unpacked event in August. Chinese phone manufacturers, such as Huawei and Oppo, have also joined the trend with their own foldable devices, such as the Mate X3 and the Find N2 Flip.
Foldable technology is still in its early stages and it remains to be seen whether this trend will become the norm or a passing fad. However, it is clear that tech giants are pushing the boundaries of innovation and competing to create the most cutting-edge devices in the market.
Google Pixel Fold Pricing
According to well-known leaker Jon Prosser, the Pixel Fold with 256GB of storage will cost $1,799, which is the same price as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, Prosser also mentioned that there will be a 512GB Pixel Fold model coming soon, priced at $1,919.
In contrast, another reliable leaker named Yogesh Brar suggested that the Pixel Fold’s price will be between $1,300 and $1,500, which is significantly lower than the expected cost of the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
9to5Google has also reported that the Pixel Fold may cost less than the Galaxy Z Fold series, around $1,400. This supports the possibility of the Pixel Fold being more affordable than Samsung’s foldable phones.
Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the most expensive foldable device in the U.S., priced at $1,799. It is expected that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have the same price point.
Google Pixel Fold Design
Based on the rumors, the Google Pixel Fold is expected to have a similar design to the Google Pixel 7 Pro on the outside, with a thicker profile and a foldable internal display like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The phone’s outside display may be shorter but wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and may resemble the Oppo Find N.
Recently leaked images of the Pixel Fold show a camera bar, which has become a signature feature of Google’s recent Pixel phones, but it does not span the entire length of the phone. The cover display takes up most of the outer covering, which contradicts some of the initial reports.
The device is also said to have a 7.69-inch inner display and a 5.79-inch outer display, and it is expected to weigh 10 ounces when unfolded and 139.7 x 78.74 x 12.7mm when folded. The phone may be available in silver or black, but the 512GB model is rumored to only come in black.
The Pixel Fold is expected to have a fingerprint scanner in the power button and Face Unlock, which may only be available on the exterior camera. The inner display may have a resolution of 2208 x 1840, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1200 nits of peak brightness with an average brightness of 800 nits.
The phone could also have a novel solution for the camera, which may be located on the bezel of the phone, and it may have the strongest hinge of any foldable. The battery may provide up to three days of juice in a specific low-power mode, which is a good area for Google to focus on given concerns about battery life and durability for foldable phones.
